Bets on the Roulette table

Though learning roulette is very simple, but to find a strategy that help player to win is really a difficult job. A player cannot do much to manipulate the outcome at Roulette. Since Roulette is inflexible and non-interactive game, a player can do little to lower the house edge. There are lots of Roulette strategies, but they don’t really make sense. Don’t worry Roulette is nothing but a simple statistical game.

First and foremost strategy is go for European Roulette wheel. A player should always look for European Roulette rather than going for American Roulette. American Roulette has 38 pockets as compared to 37 pockets in European Roulette wheel. American Roulette wheels include an extra pair of zeros (i.e. 00). These pair of extra zeros increases the house edge very much. This is the reason Roulette is not very popular in North America. Whereas the European Roulette wheel, which has single zero, reduces the house edge to 2.70% and it increases the chance of winning.

Second, “En Prison” rule: This rule states that, if a player is placing an even-money wager, and the ball drops in the 0 pocket, the bet will not be over after the rest of the wagers, but it won’t come back to player either. In this case, the wager is said to be “in prison” and stays on the board until the next spin. The fate of bet is decided on the next spin. If on the next spin, a player wins then players money is returned to him, but with no extra winnings. But if next spin is a loss, then that bet gets swept away and player lose the wager. And if on next spin its 0, then the bet remains on board until its fate is decided. This rule reduces the house edge to 1.35% and gives a better chance to player to win the bet.

Third, look for “Surrender” in casino: This rule applies on those outside bets that pays even money. If “surrender” is offered, the house edge is 2.63% on even money wagers. The rule says that if the ball drops on a 0 or 00, player instead of losing complete bet loses half the amount he bet.

Fourth, bankroll management: Before playing, a player should decide the amount he wants to spend. Player should also set a win limit. That is player should stop playing further after winning the amount he has fixed.

The above strategies are simple advice and not hard and fast rule. No roulette strategy can help a player to win the game, as every spin is independent of previous spin. They are simple guidelines that can help a player to increase the probability of win and limit the loss.
