Hand Rankings is the basis of online poker. The game is put up entirely upon hand rankings. So a player needs to understand all the possibilities of poker hands which are based on concept of chance/probability. So starting from the highest to lowest, the hand rankings are as follows:

  1. Royal Flush: It is considered the uppermost hand in Online Poker. This poker hand consists of following cards of same suit: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten. Example: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten of spades.

  2. Straight Flush: This poker hand consists of cards of same suit in sequence. Example: 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack of diamonds.

  3. Four of a kind: This poker hand consists of four cards of same value of every suit. If two players have four-of-a-kind hand then the hand with higher value beats the other. Example: 5, 5, 5, 5, Jack.

  4. Full House: This poker hand consists of three-of-a-kind along with a pair of some other value. Example: Queen, Queen, Queen, 5, 5.

  5. Flush: This poker hand consists of all five cards of same suit. Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, Jack of hearts.

  6. Straight: This poker hand consists of five cards of different suit in sequence. Example: 4(diamonds), 5(spades), 6(clubs), 7(hearts), 8(clubs).

  7. Three of a kind: This poker hand consists of three cards of same value of any suit along with any two other matchless cards. Example: 7, 7, 7, Jack, Ace.

  8. Two Pairs: This poker hand consists of two pairs of different values along with any other fifth card. Example: Queen, Queen, 10, 10, Jack.

  9. One Pair: This poker hand consists of two cards of same value and any other three matchless cards. Example: King, King, 5, 9, 10.

  10. Ace-King: This poker hand consists of an ace and a king along with any three other matchless cards. Example: Ace, King, 5, 7, 9.

An Important Note: When comparison is made between two high poker hands or two low poker hands which are of identical value and rank, the hand which consists of the highest ranking card will be considered the higher ranking poker hand. But if the two poker hands are of identical rank even after comparison, the hands are considered a copy hand and the dealer wins.
