Baccarat is a very sophisticated simple casino game. There are only three principal bets a player can make:

• Player
• Banker
• Tie

Starting with the player two cards are dealt to the player and the banker. Here the banker is also known as the card dealer.

Goal as a player is to reach a hand total of as close as to 9 points in about 2 or 3 card draws. So if a hand obtains total point closest to 9 in first two cards, wins without drawing another card. This is known as a “natural hand”. If the cards total is not a natural hand then another card is drawn to determine the winner. The decision when to deal a third card follows precise set rules used by all casinos.

If the hand player is betting on wins, either bankers hand or player hand, he/she gets even money. Even money bets are one-to-one (1-1). Else if the player bets on a tie and wins, he gets paid in a ratio of eight is to one (8-1). The only difference being a player who wins a banker’s hand is taxed 5% by the casinos.

Once dealing of the cards is completed, the hand with the highest count wins.

Baccarat is quite similar to blackjack in following way:

• Till the time total point value of one hand is higher than the other, it wins.

Baccarat is different from blackjack in following ways:

• In baccarat third card is drawn on basis of the current total of the points in hand. Unlike blackjack where a player can control the deal of third card.
  
  
• Unlike blackjack, in baccarat a player can bet on three options namely, player, banker or tie.

So all it takes to learn baccarat is practice.
