Myths and beliefs are easily found everywhere, no matter which continent, which country, which culture, which family or which profession you are in. At some places, these are stronger than facts and at some; these are mere superstitions which are not given much consideration. But when it comes to superstitions and myths in a leisure time activity, especially the one involving one’s hard earned money, like Gambling, myths are bound to change into beliefs. Many times while gambling, players can be seen searching for even a smallest sign, hoping it might guide them through their next bet or game.

Also, superstitious practices are not only used for bringing good luck to someone, but some of these practices are also believed to bring in bad luck. This is the reason why most of the people avoid doing all those things. Some of the most common superstitions which are believed to bring bad luck include The color black, A black cat crossing one's path, Breaking a mirror and the one most commonly believed in, by the gamblers is that of Dogs near a gambling table.

One of the most common superstition practices while Gambling is, of blowing on the set of dice, before rolling them on to the table. This is very common myth amongst the players that they can actually give an extra luck to their game by following such practices, which have long been associated with gambling. Though every gambler usually has his own set of superstitious beliefs, there can be found quite a few common set of beliefs that many players have adopted, at one time or another.

Some of the superstitious practices, adopted very frequently to bring in some good luck are Crossing one's fingers, Carrying a personal lucky charm, Wearing a lucky item of clothing, Carrying a horseshoe, Blowing on the dice before rolling them and making use of Red color in anything related to the game.

Most of us, in our daily routines, especially the players or gamblers, when in the middle of a crucial game, are believed to have given way to the occasional superstitious belief, at one stage or another. But when it comes to the playing any game, may it be sports or gambling, it has always seemed logical and rational for a player to concentrate and believe more on his skills, practice and knowledge rather than practicing foolish and superstitious beliefs, which may work once but not twice!
Hence, it’s always advisable for the gamblers to put more of their time and effort in practicing their skills with the game, rather than blindfolding themselves with myths and superstitions.
